Adding colour to a blank canvas

Awful shot! The blank canvas of high clouds makes for flat lighting and the top left space it takes up is rather unsightly.

But I only had my phone on me and I wanted to capture those lovely autumnal reds, yellows and oranges, and the lines of branches seemingly reaching up in unison. The lens has reduced what I wanted to focus on and included unwanted elements.

That’s right, blame the camera!

I wonder now if I could have captured it better from a different angle, but I guess I was caught in a moment. It was so still everywhere, like a calm before a storm, where your senses seem intuitively heightened.

This forest is centuries old. I live amongst it and feel a sense of place. Yet I know I’m just a passer-by in time. Still, I’m grateful to be here.
