Facing the winter sun

The rising winter sun has been given full reign in a clear blue sky this morning, shaking off the cool of a January night. 

Its brightness is something else and the tree is alight with it – radiating colour and feeling the warmth. 

We stand a short distance apart, silent and still, and grateful.
