Receiving the light
What caught my eye here was how the low sun caught this stalk of fern. We’d had some glorious days in the early part of November and I kept noticing lone bits of foliage lit up like this. The contrast was stark with other leafage looking lifeless in the shade. As I look again, I’m transfixed by the effect – not just by this moment but in what it might represent, the possibility of transformation beyond my own doing. All I have to do is receive the light when it comes. — Again in black and white: The warmth is obviously lost and now I notice the detritus in the foreground more, which is not necessarily a good thing! But the fern still gleams in the sunshine – which is also creating a lovely effect on the trees in the background. It speaks to me more about the death and decay in the scene while the light prevails and life goes on. — Snapped on my old iPhone 6s down Beechen Lane track, Lyndhurst, New Forest.
