Sending out the signal

It’s one of those views you see on your way to work in the early hours, the sky lighting up like a fire. And you try to take it in as you keep your eyes on the road, your windscreen and windows full of wondrous colours and shifting patterns.

I’m here with our border collie, Sid, enjoying the morning and trying out different shots with my camera and tripod. While I try to focus on capturing this beautiful moment, Sid is focused on the stick he’s just bashed against my tripod, looking at it with total attention, tongue hanging out in happy anticipation.

I look up in wonderment. Small clouds have spread out to signal the rising sun. Meanwhile Sid nudges the tripod leg again, signalling it’s time to throw his stick.
