Standing in foggy reverie

The morning fog is spread everywhere in a hush. There is a little time yet before it’s burned up by the sun on this beautiful clear day.

I love the simplicity it brings, throwing a veil over the details, creating space to appreciate the basic forms of the trees and gorse bushes, and anticipation for the landscape to be revealed.

These are the moments before the moment – the waking up, the preparation for the day, for the winter sun.

I love the clear sky, unencumbered by clouds. Its endless, inviting purity looks good enough to fall upwards into.

It feels cool and damp everywhere but the day is showing promise. And my feet are dry in warm socks and good boots – it makes a difference! I’m going to hang around and see what happens as the fog lifts.

It’s yet one more natural wonder-filled event, worthy of the kind of media attention something like an eclipse gets. Yet I’m here without the crowds, standing in my own reverie.
