Standing in the stillness before sunrise

Sunrise is a little way off yet but there’s a hint of it in the air. Bands of chalky grey clouds are interspersed with ribbons of pale peach sky. Soon we may start to feel the warmth they suggest. 

A silvery dew is rising to join the wisps of cloud tracking high above. The stillness is beguiling; I’m cold but I don’t want to leave.
