Standing in a wonderful light

I didn’t notice at the time how scraggy this tree looks – emphasised all the more in this photograph since it takes up the whole frame! 

What drew me was the effect of the fog and beautiful sunlit clouds in the background – and usually a lone tree in the foreground makes a good subject. 

If there’s any virtue in its presence here, I think it’s the way it leads you in to marvel at those liquid gold clouds. They look like they’re flowing like a river.
