Warming up in the mist

A bit of a closer look at the tree stems and their branches in the foggy morning sunlight. Their posture suggests motion to me and brings to mind journalistic photos from the 1930s in America – something like an old shot of dockside workers shuffling along to work in the haze, smoke and steam. 

The fog is in no rush to leave. I’ve been out here a while, enjoying the way it penetrates the forest and creates a pale backdrop for trees in the foreground. It even seems to simplify the chaos of so many overlapping branches on display, somehow giving a sense of orderliness to it all. 

And the sun makes such a difference – creating warmth and lighting up the place. It would feel cold and dank without it.
