All lit up in the mess

A gorgeous January afternoon in the forest. The light on the tree caught my eye as I sped past on my bike, so I braked hard and turned back. 

I was aware of all the extraneous detail included in my phone’s frame, but I just wanted to capture that glorious light on the tree. 

As to the overall effect, it’s another fine mess I’ve managed to photograph – life isn’t all pretty pictures?

But when you’re there and something shines beautifully like this tree was doing, you don’t really worry about the mess.

Alight with abundance

I’d just started on a bike ride for a bit of exercise but didn’t get far before stopping to capture this scene. The sunlight in the gateway beckoned me closer. How could I resist?  The leaves and grass were so bright in the sunshine. Everything felt new and fresh with an abundance of Spring flourish – the vegetation bursting with life; birdsong happy and hopeful.  It’s like the forest has got new clothes and is chuffed to wear them.  And it’s good to see!  Those tall trees on either side now look to me like columns at the entrance of a special place – where the sun shines and the leaves sparkle and life is abundant.
