Casting strong shadows

I was transfixed by this scene. The blue sky and winter sun transformed the damp and dour experience of recent days. The air was fresh and clear. Life had rediscovered its sparkle. 

I loved the long shadows on the ground – so strong and distinct against the tangle and intricacy of the branches. 

Life often seems to meander like the twists and turns on display here. But I want it to be about something definite too, like those strong and pleasing shadows.
