Last moments of the winter sun

You climb a hill on your bike and this is your reward. Seems like I caught it just at the right moment before the last of the day’s sun. 

Look at that sky. And those gorgeous warm colours on a very cold day. I love the light on the trunks and tree tops. 

Everything’s so clear today. So crisp. So still. 

The sun shows up to let us know it’s still here, even if we can barely feel it on these raw winter days. Its glow warms the soul. Its presence is cheering and immensely reassuring. 

I need days like this amidst so much grey and drizzle. When they come, I need to savour them.

Alight with abundance

I’d just started on a bike ride for a bit of exercise but didn’t get far before stopping to capture this scene. The sunlight in the gateway beckoned me closer. How could I resist?  The leaves and grass were so bright in the sunshine. Everything felt new and fresh with an abundance of Spring flourish – the vegetation bursting with life; birdsong happy and hopeful.  It’s like the forest has got new clothes and is chuffed to wear them.  And it’s good to see!  Those tall trees on either side now look to me like columns at the entrance of a special place – where the sun shines and the leaves sparkle and life is abundant.
