Winter's ground lighting

Not long before sunset, a lovely light was cast onto the trees, a bit like the atmospheric uplighting on the old walls in Southampton. 

These two trees caught my eye as I cycled along the track. I jumped off my bike and took a few snaps. But I didn’t hang around long. 

The temperature was around zero so I mostly kept peddling to keep warm. It was good to get out for a break though. I’d been at my computer all day, looking out my window with an increasing sense that I should get out into the beauty of it all.

Alight with abundance

I’d just started on a bike ride for a bit of exercise but didn’t get far before stopping to capture this scene. The sunlight in the gateway beckoned me closer. How could I resist?  The leaves and grass were so bright in the sunshine. Everything felt new and fresh with an abundance of Spring flourish – the vegetation bursting with life; birdsong happy and hopeful.  It’s like the forest has got new clothes and is chuffed to wear them.  And it’s good to see!  Those tall trees on either side now look to me like columns at the entrance of a special place – where the sun shines and the leaves sparkle and life is abundant.
