Standing in the dappled light
‘Light and lines’. That’s what this shot says to me. Maybe it says ‘mess’ too. But it’s the shape and reach of the tree on the right that dominates and pulls my eye. And the dappled light adds to its presence.
And what about the rest, is it just noise? It’s context I guess! It’s busy with close-knit trees and intertwining branches, typical of the forest and laid bare during winter.
This is the opposite of a lone tree shot, which can often be evocative and calming in its simplicity. But I like the way this tree expresses itself in this frame. And how each tree brings its uniqueness to its community.
