Carrying on in winter

A clump of trees stand in dank conditions, their trunks covered with vibrant-green moss, complemented by tan-brown fern behind them.

This little cluster of trees caught my eye as I rode past them. The depth of colour in that moss was stunning, and the clear texture of the bark made you want to touch it – some of winter’s better effects at play, I guess.

I liked the orderliness of these trees too, barring the rogue limb bending its way up!

It wasn’t an inviting day in the forest at all. Yet in the cold and wet these trees faithfully stand their ground and carry on.

That’s a daft thing to say, really – as if they have much choice! But there’s something in these trees that speaks to me about carrying on faithfully and remaining steady, come what may.
