Sylvan summer calm

From my photo journal...

I love the tranquility of this scene. I find overcast summer days convey a sense of calm. Contrast this with a gloomier mood in winter.

The curved lines here are strong and graceful. They dominate the shot, cutting it into three segments. But that little bit of light at the tree base offers some nice relief and contrast—as does the decaying trunk on the right.

The leafage all around is simply beautiful and evokes the fullness of summer.

This was taken on an early Saturday morning bike ride in the forest. Not a bad thing to be doing. How fortunate am I?
