Dense woodland beauty

A photo looking up at densely packed branches and twigs with leaves of various shades and colours in the sunlight and shadows. Pondhead Inclosure, The New Forest. November 2022.

Glorious sunlight pulled my gaze upwards to the spectacle of colours and shades and crisscross branches in this dense area of woodland.

I was on a half hour break and glad to get out. Fresh air. Nice breeze. Gorgeous low-lying sun. Autumn at its best.

Wandering around with the place to myself was blissful. How fortunate am I to be here? I often take it for granted. And then a snap like this reminds me to be grateful.

Here it is again in black and white, where I notice the form and intricacy of the branches in more detail:

It speaks to me of the complexity of life and all the work to bring it into colour – to survive and thrive.
