Standing in glorious technicolour

A busy area of ancient woodland in the New Forest looking gloriously autumnal in the sunlight

Standing here was all about taking in a multitude of colours and shades as sunlight hit certain leaves. The contrast was lovely. It made me appreciate the vibrant sun-drenched leaves all the more.

On the other hand, it’s a busy shot and I wonder if this wide angled camera phone view really pulls it off. Nothing beats being there, of course.

Standing amidst the beauty of nature and observing its interplay is a wondrous and marvellous thing. It’s mysterious and harsh, too, at times. The deadwood scattered on the forest floor speaks to the ravages of time. And life in the wild is hard for most creatures.

But here, in this moment, with the sun hitting those leaves, it was glorious.

Here's what it looks like without the glorious technicolour:

This appears to make the tree and its two trunks more prominent, giving a sense of stature within the dense community. Meanwhile, delicate branches provide contrast as their leaves make pretty fleck patterns in the left foreground.
