Light makes it through
I loved the shadow cast on this nice patch of ground, set amongst a cluster of trees. The canopy overhead was quite thick but the sunlight found its way through and created this lovely contrast.
I had this place to myself for the short while I was there. A warm breeze rustled the leaves every now and then. It was a beautiful moment on a beautiful late October day.

Here again in black and white:
Whereas the vibrant greens are the main player in the colour version, it’s those three tender branches reaching across the frame that draw my attention in this one.
The brightness of the sunlight also seems a little more bearable and I notice the way the sunlight catches the leaves in front of the tree on the right.
I think that’s what I love about black and white photography – it allows me to notice more the light detail behind the many wondrous hues and tones that we get in colour.
