Sylvan summer calm

Image
From my photo journal... I love the tranquility of this scene. I find overcast summer days convey a sense of calm. Contrast this with a gloomier mood in winter. The curved lines here are strong and graceful. They dominate the shot, cutting it into three segments. But that little bit of light at the tree base offers some nice relief and contrast—as does the decaying trunk on the right. The leafage all around is simply beautiful and evokes the fullness of summer. This was taken on an early Saturday morning bike ride in the forest. Not a bad thing to be doing. Autumn colours in August

Image
From my photo journal... Mid-August seems too early for the leaves to be turning. We’ve had a hot and dry summer which may have something to do with it.  I was on my bike and had to capture this. It’s a handsome tree, in my opinion. I love the splay of its branches. It shows good balance.  And those colours. Beautiful. Such amazing detail. Each leaf unique but combining to make this glorious display.  Wonderful. ---. Snapped on my old iPhone 6s on Beechen Lane, Lyndhurst, New Forest. --- Photo ref: 20220818-Beechen-Lane-23

Hello!

Hello! Good to see you! Thanks for visiting – I hope you enjoy what you see as I share my experiences taking photographs.. Mainly of trees! (I’m based in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK.)  But other things too... Such as people and places... And the sheer wonder of life and creation. Something about photography manages to capture this in ways I find captivating – sparking curiosity and wonder, illuminating insight and imagination, provoking questions, challenging ideas, stirring emotions, inspiring creativity, and so on.  I hope to convey some of this in this blog.  And I hope it sparks something of the same for you too.  All the best, Will
